Annexe El Modesto Berkhamsted High

Annexe El Modesto, Berkhamsted High Street.
When I “check-in” the lodgings’ conventional furnishing had no table & no chair. These were kindly furnished upon request, following the end of the family meal when they became available.

The black orb, top left in pic, is a CCTV. Good to know that activity in this room is under constant surveillance by the authorities.
09.25 Over to B&B El Modesto HQ for breakfast, carrying once again the Happy Gigster’s Travelling Cafetiere, useful when the establishment is so modest that only instant coffee is served.
Why, I have been asked, do I stay in such modest accommodation?
Three quick answers:
to monitor the state & condition of the commonplace “ordinary” world;
to maintain a sense of perspective;
to avoid reliance upon comfort.
That said, staying here has been a modest experiencing. And it’s cheap.
Loading the car and off to the station to collect Davide.
17.09 DGM HQ.
Collecting Davide at the station 09.53, unforgivingly late by 5 minutes, and onto Studio Jakko.
Our first hour: extemporising & improvising. Then listening to Davide’s edits of yesterday’s material, followed by today’s work – in surround! The only way to listen, and this from someone who doesn’t have a 5.1 system.
Leaving Jakko c.13.20 to the train station with Davide, en route to his session in Bath. The Minx called: the M25 was closed & likely to remain so for the remainder of the afternoon. That was to be my route, so the Minx recommended journeying to DGM HQ via Aylesbury, onto the A34 south to the A303.
Arriving here c. 15.55, some 129 miles from Berkhamsted. as speedily as the usual journeying-route.
David is in DGM SoundWorld I, continuing to labour at the Vicar’s behest.
Greyness. Wetness. The street I…
